Westfield State Cheerleading

Here at Westfield State there are two separate cheer teams, an All-Girl team, and a large Co-ed team. Lisa Moskow coaches the two teams with assistant coach Amanda Drew.

The All-Girl team is Westfield States' official cheerleading squad. They cheer at all home and some away football games in the fall, and at both the men’s and women’s basketball games in the winter. Members of this team can also choose to participate in a competition at the end of their winter season. The season begins in late August and continues through February. Practices are three times a week.

The Co-ed team primarily does competitions, and is recognized as a varsity sport by the college. They generally do 6-8 competitions and 3-5 exhibitions each year. They traditionally attend UCA’s National College Cheerleading Championship each year at Disney World. At their most recent visit to Florida they placed 6th in the small co-ed division II. The season begins in late August and continues into early March. Practices are four times a week plus organized lifting times during and after the season. Freshmen must attend four hours a week of study hall with the other athletes during the season. Tumbling skills are required for this team, at least a standing and power hurdle backhandspring.
